Intro to Granny Squares

Ready to take your beginner crochet skills to the next level? Granny Squares are a fun next step! Grannies are used in so many projects...bags, blankets, sweaters, and more. (Hint...this class is the pre-requisite for several of our other crochet classes 😉)  

This class is intended for participants who have recently completed our Learn to Crochet class, or already know the foundational crochet stitches. 

Instructor: Nancy DeVries

Cost: $30 class fee + materials

Dates: Saturday, September 27, 1:00-3:30 pm

Level: Prior to this class, you need to be comfortable with chaining, slip stitch, single crochet and double crochet. This class is for participants ages 16+.

Skills: You will learn how to do magic ring, standing double crochet, crochet in the round, turn corners, change colors, weave in your ends, and piece together your squares.

Materials: 10% off with class purchase. Please purchase class supplies at Rose Yarn Co. 

• Yarn: 3-5 colors of DK or Worsted weight yarn.
  Suggested: Cascade 220 Superwash Merino, Rowan Handknit Cotton or Summerlite DK, Sirdar Happy Cotton
• Crochet Hook: Size H (5mm) for worsted or Size G (4mm) for DK
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors

Instructor Bio: From Nancy - "My grandma was a master embroiderer and crocheter of lace edgings. She taught me at the age of 9 how to crochet. Since learning I have never not crocheted. I love trying new and intricate patterns or making things up on my own. I have done many baby blankets, sweaters, granny squares, dishcloths, scarves....  I have been crocheting 50+ years and have taught many others how to crochet."
