Plant Dyeing with KnittyVet

Cost: $65 - includes class fee and all materials

Dates: 1:00-3:30 pm on either Tuesday, October 22 OR Saturday, October 26

Level: No experience required!

Skills: Participants will learn some of the rich history of natural dyes, then use locally raised dye materials such as flowers to dye their own wool to take home. Each participant will be able to dye at least 50gm of wool yarn in a natural shade of yellow, orange, green or brown depending on materials available and the wishes of the class. This workshop will teach the basics of naturally dyeing and each participant should leave with the knowledge necessary to continue their journey into plant dyes!

Materials: Included in class fee. You will leave with a skein of freshly hand dyed wool yarn! 

Please note: Your clothing may get a bit messy during the dye process, so please dress accordingly.

Bio: Kendra grows and prepares all natural (and organic) plant sources of dye that have been used by natural dyers stretching back hundreds and thousands of years. She uses these dye materials to create beautiful collections of yarn for all of her fiber loving friends and neighbors. She also teaches dye classes and is a member of the Three Rivers Fibershed, a group of shepherds, fiber growers, and plant dyers aiming to develop regional fiber systems that build soil health and protect the wellbeing of our biosphere here in Minnesota and regions beyond.
