Beyond the practical side of stranded knitting, colorwork adds contrast and beauty. Besides it’s a blast to knit. The pattern in this cowl is very rewarding because it looks complicated, but it is actually a simple XO pattern repeat. It’s knit in the round with minimal shaping, so you can concentrate on the colorwork without worrying about anything else. In Norwegian, patterns like this one with an XO repeat are called Kors and Kringle, which translates to a Cross and a Cookie (or a pastry).
