Intro to Colorwork: Alpine Bloom Hat

Join us for a fun beginning colorwork class!
Instructor: Shari Besser
Cost: $30 class fee + materials
Date: Saturday, July 19, 1:00-3:00 pm
***Note: This class will require some pre-work. You will need to:
1. Complete an in the round gauge swatch, block and dry (instructions will be provided)
2. Cast on with your MC and complete the ribbing section prior to class
Level: Advanced Beginner. Prior to this class, you need to be able to cast on, knit, purl, knit in the round and read a pattern. This class is for participants 18+.
Skills: We will cover how to knit with 2 colors, how to knit with yarn in both hands, how to read a chart, K2tog and SSK decreases and yarn dominance.

- Yarn: Sport or DK weight yarn in 2 high contrast colors
MC: Light - 110-130 yards
CC: Dark - 80-100 yards
Suggested: Rowan Felted Tweed, Malabrigo Arroyo, Madelinetosh Tosh DK, Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok, Cascade 220 Sport or Heritage 6, Palmer DK
- Needles: *Needle size may differ based on your gauge
Size US 3 (3.25mm) 16" circular needle for ribbing
Size US 5 (3.75mm) 16" circular needle for body AND preferred needles for decreases (DPNs or magic loop)
- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
- Notebook and pen
Instructor Bio: From Shari Besser – “I’ve been teaching classes since 1998, when my twins graduated from high school, and Zandy from Zandy’s yarn shop took a chance on me! I learn more from people than I teach! My grandma taught me to crochet and knit a bit, but a friend sat me down and taught me the basics, I’m so thankful for her! I’m still learning and in awe of what so many accomplish. I might be a familiar face as I’ve taught at a few shops!”
